The house is just off the A1 dual carriageway between Hillsborough & Dromore and just a few minutes from the main M1 motorway. There is a comfortable guest lounge with a large TV and DVD player. A library of DVDs, books, board games and magazines are available for guests’ use. There is also a PC and fax machine available, an honesty box is left to cover any costs. Lisnacurran Country House is just 5mins’ drive from the famous & historic Georgian village of Hillsborough. Attractions in the village include Hillsborough Forest Park, Hillsborough Fort built in 1630 and Hillsborough Castle, a late 18th century mansion house situated in the heart of Hillsborough. The castle was the seat of the Hill family, who held the title of Marquis of Downshire. In 1922, the government bought the castle from the Hills and it became the home of the Governor of Northern Ireland. From 1972 until today, it has been the official residence of the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland. Hillsborough Courthouse, which is based in the Square in Hillsborough, is one of the finest examples of Georgian architecture in Ireland. Here you will find the local Tourist Information Office. Lisnacurran Country House is just 10mins’ drive from Lisburn. The Sprucefield shopping centre is 5 minutes away and the Bridgewater Outlet Shopping Park is just a 10minute drive away. Belfast is only 20 minutes’ drive, while Dublin is only 90mins away. The great location and good access to the region’s major roads, make the Lisnacurran Country House a good base from which to explore the rest of the province.
